Dec. 3, 2024 a little girl was found. 4 kilos, paralysed. She had been attacked by some stray dogs and broke her spine and hips. The shelter STORGI ANIMAL WELFARE in Skydra, Greece, named her Rapunzel. Watch her rescue story here. The little girl was in pain and in shock, and depressed. Of course, she was taken to the vet immediately and prescribed crate-rest and of course medication. In the beginning, she did not want to eat, but in a few days, she started to eat very well. 

The shelter knew from the neighbourhood, that Rapunzel had been seen with another small dog, a sibling. People thought that was a boy, so Rapunzel's brother. The shelter volunteers kept on searching the little one. On Dec. 26, they found Rapunzel's sibling. It turned out not to be a boy: it was also a little girl. They named her Esmeralda.  

Esmeralda was taken care of by a sweet lady. She lived in the garden of this lovely lady. Esmeralda was in heat and it would have only be a matter of time, before she would have been attacked, raped and most probably severely injured or killed, by the stray dogs. They would just have jumped the fence and go after Esmeralda. It was decided, Esmeralda would be most safe in the shelter. 

As Rapunzel is still healing from her injuries (she will never be able to walk again), Marilena from STORGI had to be careful with Rapunzel. She did however put the two sisters together for a short time, and Rapunzel and Esmeralda were very happy. They recognised each other immediately and relaxed.
